The New Overtime Regulations: What is Compensable Time?

September 21, 2016 | 9:00 am – 10:00 am

Free

Wayfind is proud to partner with the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program to bring you this free webinar.

The Department of Labor’s new overtime regulations begin sooner than you think and now is the time to prepare. Starting December 1, 2016, any employee earning less than $47,476 per year (except for attorneys, teachers and doctors) will be eligible for overtime pay if the employee works more than 40 hours in a work week. In order to ensure your nonprofit complies with the new rules, it is important that you understand what counts when determining how many hours your employees work.

This webinar will discuss some basic issues, such as how to account for the times employees email and text each other outside of office hours, work remotely, attend training sessions outside the office, travel for work, eat lunch at their desks and attend special events hosted by the nonprofit. It will also discuss the recordkeeping requirements under the law, what to do when an employee does not keep time records, and how to train your supervisors so that they are not asking employees to work overtime without even realizing it.
